The way I work with the medium often ends up resembling other things. I sometimes use items other than brushes to get the pigment on the paper.
...My clothes, curtains,,,when I am in the moment, I don't know what I am going to do next. I worked on this one while painting in a place in my town that is "Art & Eats"... diners can watch the painter of the evening working whatever magic they do. It is a cool place. I may have used food while working on this. JUST KIDDING! That would then be mixed-media, I think?
Now and then is meant to raise the subtle question of this being the same individual. Note the feet, sort of mirror image. And, of course the lane, his life.
It is also such an icon image of a grandfather and every little boy. The real story is a great one. I painted this for the little boy. He hung it in his first condo.
